Who benefits from Fur Ball?
The proceeds raised through Fur Ball benefit both the shelter pets in our care and the pets and families throughout our community. Your support helps us provide shelter, nutritious food, medical care, enrichment, and everyday necessities for animals awaiting their next chapter. It also allows us to continue bringing people and pets together through adoption and connection at Southern Pines Animal Shelter, while expanding access to essential veterinary services through the Healthy Pet Clinic.
Beyond the direct impact of the funds raised, Fur Ball helps shine a light on the needs of pets and families in our community, inspiring compassion, awareness, and action. By helping keep veterinary care affordable and accessible, Fur Ball ensures more pets can receive the care they need to stay healthy and remain with the families who love them.
When and where is the event?
​The Fur Ball takes place on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 6:00–10:00 PM at The Bottling Company in downtown Hattiesburg.
How can I buy tickets?
​Tickets are available via this website through the menu to your left. If you'd rather mail a check, please send a check with a note detailing your ticket purchase to PO Box 2021 Hattiesburg, MS 39403. Please do not send any checks for ticket purchases after August 21st, so that we will receive it in plenty of time.
What does my ticket include?
All guests will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, as well as access to our live auction, dance floor, photobooth, and scavenger hunt. The wine pull and the live tattoos require an additional donation.
What should I wear?
Costumes are not required, but they are highly encouraged! Come dressed for an enchanted evening and embrace the adventure however you choose. Whether you arrive in cocktail attire, fairytale-inspired fashion, Renaissance Faire flair, or full fantasy adventure garb, we invite you to let your imagination shine.
Our inspiration is Tangled meets The Hobbit: a world of whimsy, wonder, and adventure where royalty, wanderers, woodland folk, and unlikely heroes all have a place. Come as the character you’ve always imagined, from a brave knight or daring pirate, to a woodland fairy or a warrior princess, to a mischievous goblin or a majestic dragon…whatever your storybook-loving heart desires.
Can I bring my pet?
While we would love to meet all of your sweet pets, this is a human-only event. There will be some shelter pets in attendance if you need some pet cuddles.
What is the wine pull?
For a set donation, you can “pull” a mystery bottle of wine—some are just for fun, while others are premium selections! Wine pull tickets are $20 for 1 ticket and $50 for 3 tickets. You can buy your tickets ahead of time via the main ticket link. You do have to have a Fur Ball ticket to participate in the wine pull.
Who can participate in the auction?
Our silent auction will be open to all supporters, whether you’re joining us at Fur Ball or cheering us on from afar. A selection of auction items will also be available exclusively during the event, giving guests the opportunity to discover and bid on special treasures throughout the evening. We welcome everyone to join in the fun and help make a difference for the pets of Southern Pines Animal Shelter & Healthy Pet Clinic!
Is my ticket tax-deductible?
A portion of your admission ticket may be tax-deductible. The receipt you are provided following your ticket purchase will detail the tax-deductible amount. Auction wins, Wine pull tickets, tattoo appointments, and Royal Portrait Gallery reservations are not considered tax-deductible donations, since you are receiving something in return for your donation.
Will there be event photography?
Yes! A photographer will be on-site to capture the fun.
Is my ticket refundable?
Please note the following regarding ticket purchases:

All ticket sales are final. Due to the nature of this fundraising event, we are unable to offer refunds once a ticket purchase has been completed.

Transferring Tickets: If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another guest. Please contact us at dsnell@sopines.org with the new guest's name by September 11, 2026.

Event Cancellation: In the rare case that the event is canceled by Southern Pines Animal Shelter, you will be offered the option of a full refund or the opportunity to convert your ticket purchase into a fully tax-deductible donation. If the event is rescheduled, no refunds will be provided.

Can I attend with a group?
Absolutely! Bring your friends or co-workers. You can purchase multiple tickets at once or reserve a table for 10!
