What to expect from our facility:

Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic is a nonprofit veterinary clinic in Hattiesburg, MS that specializes in the care of cats and dogs belonging to the public, as well as shelter pets. We have a high-volume spay and neuter clinic and two limited-service wellness clinics.

Southern Pines' mission is to nurture the bond between people and pets through community, compassion, and collaboration to forge a path toward sustainable, responsible, and community-driven lifesaving. Our clinic's goal is to create access to affordable veterinary care, promote healthy pet ownership through wellness services, focus on spay & neuter to reduce pet overpopulation. This is the driving force behind everything we do!

Tech Assistant Internships

Rotations are one full work day each week for one semester (5 months). Internships are offered year-round, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Rotations for desirable days (such as Friday) fill up well in advance. To secure dates, we recommend volunteers apply 6-12 months in advance of their desired rotation.

Veterinary Externships

Rotations are typically two-weeks in length, but we are open to 3-4 week rotations when scheduling allows. Externs work Monday-Friday from approximately 8am/9am-4 pm and have Saturday and Sunday off. We can typically be flexible if a student has to start/end on a different day. Externships are offered year-round, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Rotations often fill up well in advance. To secure dates, we recommend students apply 6-12 months in advance of their desired rotation.
