What if I book my pet on the wrong day?

  • Please be aware that any pet scheduled for a day that does not apply to them will be charged our full surgery pricing. If you are concerned about booking your pet on the wrong day, we encourage you to email appointments@sopines.org or call (601) 544-5678 to speak with a staff member about your appointment.

Why do I have to pay a $25 deposit?

  • To help ensure that we can stay affordable and that the much-needed surgery spots are getting used, Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic requires a $25 non-refundable deposit for all surgery appointments at the time of booking. Booked clients can use this as a clinic credit for a later date if they cancel 3 days in advance, 50% credit with 24 hours notice. The deposit will be applied to your total the day of surgery, as well as to any additional costs, such as pain medication, rabies vaccine, etc.

  • The required $25 deposit will still be required to book your pet's surgery appointment, and will be applied to your final total the day of surgery. Also, please note that when you book online, it automatically shows our regular pricing and the special price will be adjusted the day of surgery. If you have any questions, please email us at healthypets@sopines.org.

Is a rabies vaccine required?

  • Yes. Per MS state law, you must have a current rabies vaccination for your pet. If your pet does not have a rabies vaccine, we will administer it at the time of surgery for a charge of $15.  If your pet does have a rabies vaccine, please bring proof in the form of a rabies certificate or current vaccination record from your veterinarian.

How old does my pet have to be in order to have a spay or neuter surgery?

  • Once the animal has reached two months and weighs two pounds, they can safely be spayed or neutered.

Why does this special not include female dogs?

  • Female dog spay surgeries typically require more time and resources compared to other procedures due to their complexity. As a result, we may offer fewer discounts for these surgeries. However, our regular dog spay surgery pricing—$110—is still the most affordable S/N rate in the area.

How long will the appointment take?

  • Drop off is between 7:45am and 9am and please be aware it may be about a 20 minute wait due to the high volume nature of our clinic. For discharge, you will receive a text message from us stating that your pet’s surgery is complete and can be picked up in two hours. Because we close at 5pm, all pets must be picked up by 4:30pm.

Will my pet be able to get additional services (such as dewormer, microchip, etc.) at this event?

  • Yes, all regular services will be available at their normal prices. Please notify our staff of any additional services you would like your pet to receive when you check in.

Are community cats included in this special?

  • Yes, community cats are eligible for March Madness. Drop off days are Monday-Thursday, and the cat must arrive in a live trap. Limit of five cats per client, per day. Check out our community cat page for details.

If my female pet is in heat or pregnant, can she still have surgery?

  • Yes, however, we require additional supportive care for pets that are in heat, are pregnant, or recently had puppies/kittens. We do not have ultrasound equipment to find out if your pet is pregnant, so we will terminate the pregnancy if the animal stays for surgery. Please let us know if your pet may need these additional services or see your regular, full service veterinary clinic in order to provide the safest care for their spay or neuter surgery.

Is a leash/carrier required for my pet?

  • Yes, all dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier. If you do not have a carrier for your cat, you can purchase a carrier at our clinic for $10. It is important that your cat is in a secure carrier BEFORE entering the clinic. If you are bringing more than one cat, they must be in separate carriers.

  • Please refrain from bringing pet's personal items, such as bedding and toys, on their day of surgery. Due to the high volume of pets seen at our clinic each day, we cannot guarantee the return of these items.
