How your gift makes a difference for pets like Rocco

Rocco was a dog in great need of a friend and an advocate, and his next door neighbor Leslee was determined to be that ray of sunshine in his life. “We shared a fence together so I always gave him treats, toys, [and] warm blankets,” said Leslee. She began building a friendship with this sweet dog through the fence, making an effort to consistently shower him with love. Rocco adored his next door neighbor and took every chance he could to spend more time with her, even escaping his yard occasionally if it meant he could hang out with Leslee. After Rocco’s final great escape, his owner recognized that Rocco would greatly benefit from Leslee’s care and friendship, and made the decision to rehome Rocco with Leslee.

Rocco immediately felt right at home. “[He] had his first bath, enjoyed watching TV, laying on a soft bed, and truly felt loved,” Leslee told us. “He was a natural at being indoors and immediately became best friends with Tucker, my two year old terrier.”

Once Rocco was in her care, Leslee quickly made a wellness appointment at the Healthy Pet Clinic and found him to be a little underweight and positive for heartworms, an internal parasite that is transmitted through mosquitoes and that can lead to lung disease or heart failure. She wasted no time and immediately began the heartworm treatment process to help get Rocco’s heart healthy.
“My experience with Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic has been incredible,” said Leslee. “The staff has treated both of my dogs with excellent care, from check-ups to treatment, and they always treat each one as if they were their own. I highly recommend their multitude of services to any pet parent out there. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.”
